Most golfers will say the hardest part of their game is focus. The mental side of golf is one spoken of but often overlooked. You know your friend the one who golfs well every time he goes out? Why is that? Practice, they practice. What they usually do not share is, what they are practicing at. They practice at mental toughness; golf has often been referred to as 10% Talent 90% mental. When overcoming that mental side of golf, do you try to change your equipment, the time at which you play, maybe even they guys you play with. Here are some tips that are going to help you be, the golfer, you always wanted to be.

The tempo of golf is often a distraction for golfers, you are stuck behind a slow foursome DISTRACTING or maybe the guys behind you are rushing you DISTRACTING and you feel that pressure to golf faster. The tempo of the course should never affect the tempo of your swing. The tempo of your swing is so important; to achieve the desired results. How do I find MY tempo you ask? A golfer can find their tempo by doing these simple things:

SLOW DOWN!! I repeat slow down, everyone thinks the speed at which you swing dictates how far and accurate your ball will move. This is true is some instances, but, for the sake of this article we will not be discussing those concepts. The tempo we are going to discuss today, is going to deal with how you approach every single shot in your game, you need to have the same back swing, contact, and follow through on every swing. How are you going to practice this TEMPO? Go to the driving range and practice with one club at a time. Take your driver and hit 20 balls, then take your 9 iron and hit 20 balls work your way in 3W-8I and on until you have hit them all. To perfect your back swing come to the same position every time. When you hit the ball you should be contacting at the same speed every time. Some people have the misconception that you should swing harder and faster with big clubs and slower and softer with smaller clubs. You really want to be swinging all of your clubs at the same speed, you will see great improvement on how well you make contact with the ball. When you are working on your follow through it will be the same as your back swing, you will want it to be the same with every club. Your follow through will affect your accuracy a 100% of the time. When you focus on these three techniques you will find that your mental game will improve.

After the practice on the driving range is done you will want to head to the chipping green. You will want to work with your Wedge, 60deg, 8I, and 9I. Practice 100 chips with each club. When you start in the deep stuff focus on yout tempo and making sure you land every ball on the green. When chipping just focus on your tempo, using the same stroke every time. Remember chipping should be another tool in your arsenal and not the final result. Many careers have been made from singles and doubles hitters it is not just the home run hitters that decide how games turnout. The idea is to get on the green and let your putter do the work. The 8i and 9i will be used to work out the tempo of the bump and run technique. Tempo here is the key still but keep in mind that now you have too much club for such a short distance. Your tempo is what matters!! Imagine you are still hitting that same wedge, Change the Club not the Tempo!!

Putting Putting Putting! This is so hard to understand but why? Now we have gone from the Driving range to the chipping green to the putting green. What you want to practice here is the same thing! You want to work on your tempo. You putt the same every time, you will not be changing your swing ever. The only thing about putting that changes is the distance. Start by sinking 10 putts in a row from 1ft away after you have done this, move out to 2ft, repeat until you sink 10 in a row from 10ft away. Stay focused on your tempo.

The goal for these exercises is to teach your to go through the same steps every time. When you are working on you tempo you need to understand that you are separating your self from the game; you are working on you. When you take the time to build on your tempo you will see results!! The game is 90% mental; set a clock in your mind that only allows for the same tempo no matter when or where you are golfing. When your body starts to do the same thing every single time, your mind will become more focused on the task at hand.

Fix golf slice is a thought on many amateur golfers’ minds. Studies reveal over 80% of all amateur golfers slice the ball. There have been more training aids, drills and tips to fix the golf slice that I can’t even begin to count.

What a frustrating situation! Do you realize what’s causing your golf slice? If you hit a golf slice, have you taken lessons; bought any training aids, and done several drills only to still hit a slice?

A golf slice is caused by the clubface coming across the ball from outside the target line, creating side-spin on the ball. Upon first thought, this may seem like a mechanical issue. And it is…but if you dig a little deeper, you’ll find it’s a ‘physical’ issue.

You see…your body dictates your ability to swing the club efficiently. If your body has ‘physical limitations’, your swing will not be mechanically sound and swing faults will appear.

In the golf swing there are many compensations for lack of proper mechanics. If you can’t make a 90 degree shoulder turn on the backswing, you’ll do whatever it takes to feel like you are making a full turn.

A good example of this would be to rotate your hips beyond the desired 45 degrees to enable your body to make a full backswing. What this does is rob you of power. You have no torque built up in your core to unleash into the ball at impact.

A golf slice is caused by the upper body getting ahead of the lower body, creating an “over-the-top” move, which in turn results in your clubface slashing across the ball and creating side-spin. Here comes the banana ball!

Your first inclination will be to take a lesson to fix this. If that doesn’t work, you might buy a training aid. If that doesn’t work you’ll buy an “offset” driver to help eliminate your golf slice.

Now the real answer! Take a break on your lessons. Don’t buy anymore training aids. And keep your normal driver in your bag.

It’s that simple. The minute your able to separate the upper and lower body upon initial move down…you’ll see that golf slice improve dramatically. You need to work on you core rotational flexibility to be able to initiate the downswing with your lower body first, to avoid the upper body getting ahead of it.

A golf slice is a weak shot that does not penetrate the air for maximum distance. Along with fixing your golf slice, you’ll add up to 30 yards to your drives. You will get more roll when the ball lands from a draw ball flight.

You will not experience compensations on the golf course anymore. All of my programs, dvds, and books focus on core rotational strength and flexibility which will improve your power output and eliminate swing faults.

When you work on your “machine”, your golf swing takes care of itself! You will finally eliminate the thought, “fix golf slice”.

Golf was invented in Scotland, and dates back to at least the 17th century, possibly even earlier – the name is believed to come from an Old German word, ‘gowf’, meaning a club or bat. There are many vary old golf courses in Scotland, most famously St. Andrews, but The oldest golf course in the world is Musselburgh Links . It is believed that the reason golf courses today have 18 holes is that St. Andrews only had room for nine, but the early golfers decided to play the course through twice each time.

Golf’s Scottish origin is a matter of some controversy among the Dutch, the Chinese and the French, who all claim that they had much similar club-and-ball games much longer ago. While there is no doubting they did, however, it seems clear that there is more to golf than just the club and the ball, and that golf as it is played today was at least perfected, if not entirely invented out of thin air, in Scotland.

Since then, little has really changed about the game. The grass has got shorter and smoother, as lawnmower technology has improved, the wooden clubs have been replaced with metal ones, and the balls have been improved by the addition of rubber, but that has about it.

It wasn’t until the 20th century, however, that golf really started to spread all over the world. There are no golf course in China until 1985, but now there are more than 200. Golf has become insanely popular in Japan, even though they don’t really have the space to build the courses – they have become pioneers of indoor and virtual golf, since the Second World War . Today, it is thought that there are over 30,000 golf courses in the world – that’s well over a hundred for every country, although some countries obviously have far more courses than others, particularly in the English-speaking world.

Some Tips for Hitting a Golf Ball to Help You Improve Your Golf Game

No golfer would turn down the chance to improve their game. That is one of the greatest thing about the sport of golf, is that no matter who you are, there is always going to be room for improvement. Even the best golf players in the world, like Tiger Woods, are constantly learning and improving, and so learning tips for hitting a golf ball are really going to be to your benefit.

Whether you are just getting started in the sport or you are a seasoned professional, here are some golf tips that you are really going to be interested in.

Golf Tips: Hitting a Longer Drive

When it comes to tips for hitting a golf ball, one of the best tips for hitting a golf ball that you can get involves hitting a longer drive. This is one of the most sought after skills in the game of golf, because after all, the longer your drive the better off you are going to be in any game, as long as you are good with accuracy.

First you are going to need to buy a driver club that is going to best suit your golf swing, and also get some balls. Make sure that you stick with a well known brand of ball and one that fits into your budget of course. There are many different brand names that are available but basically whatever you choose, you just want to make sure that it has 100 compression.

Now you are ready to get going, and you really have to work on your timing if you want to get a longer drive. For lifting off your ball it is necessary to work on increasing the speed of your swing.

Get Focused

Another of the most important golf tips for hitting a golf ball is to get focused. No matter if you are teeing off or putting into the hole, you want to have a focus for your eyes to lock onto. Otherwise you are going to be looking around at everything, will lose focus, and probably your game will suffer as a result.

Keep your eyes on the flag pole while hitting the ball when you are teeing off. These are just two of the many different tips for hitting a golf ball that you can learn.

Anytime you hear a debate about your golf game, somewhere along the line it turns to what role your hands play in the operation. I have my own thoughts as well, but then again I still have other thoughts about the golf grip.

In my opinion a beginning golfer should pay close attention to how you apply your golf grip. The idea behind it is to be able to give yourself as much control as possible. While this is important, you also want to have the kind of power that your shaft allows. However, if you’re working with a veteran of the game, the golf grip isn’t as important since it becomes natural.

Better golfers give you the opportunity to work with someone who has developed a routine grip on the club. The beginners will fluctuate between one golf grip and another, giving you a better understanding of it all.

Okay, with all this being said I want to talk about Eric Brown for a minute. He is one of the best professionals out there in the post-war era. Over the years he’s accumulated a ridiculous amount of achievements and brought so much to the game of golf. It makes you wonder why he couldn’t school himself and become a legendary golfer.

Whenever you take a look at his new golf swing, the movement is as fine and flowing as one could be. However, there is a lot left to say about his technique in which he uses an unorthodox swing. Seriously, he should grip the club with the right hand so much under the shaft which sets the V of his right hand to the V on his left.

Regardless, Eric Brown is like the Brett Favre of golf techniques. He looks so fluent doing them, but we wouldn’t recommend it as a teaching stays for a lot of people. Especially considering most everyone else would fail.

Whenever you want to reshape your golf swing, it always starts with the golf grip. If you do not keep the same fluent motion throughout, the aura will point you in a zone like no other. Believe you/me, it’s a feeling you love to have on the golf course. If you don’t, now only will your swing suffer, but your mental game as well.

It’s very important that you spend the time working on having the correct golf grip. Why? Well, in the end it will contribute to every other part of your game. Granted, the feet, legs, arms, back, and shoulders will play their parts as well, but it all begins with your hands.

Just think as your hands as your heart, without the heart you can not flow blood through the system. Without the proper golf grip you can’t swing without the hands helping everything else perform properly.

Okay, what it all comes down to is the correct placement on the shaft. If you can master the grip, the rest of the hand action won’t be as much of a problem.

If you look at the top players in the world, most of them use the Vardon overlapping grip. This is your little finger on the right hand is latched on to the forefinger of the left. It allows you to form a unity between the hands. It’s the most popular grip I teach, unless of course my golfer has smaller hands.

So if you’re thinking I can’t teach you with smaller fingers, don’t think that way. I would then move to the double handed grip.

Then we have the interlocking grip. It’s probably the most eccentric grip out of the 3 we mentioned. However, because of its difficulty you should use this while under the proper supervision.

Each one of these grips has a common factor. Anytime pro players use them, they ensure that hands are unified. What it comes down to is that golf is a two-handed game with the left as a controller and not to let the right over power it. You’ll find this to be one of the most important factors.

In the end a good technique starts with a good golf grip.

So, do you want to learn more about perfecting the golf grip?

As the year’s progress and you become a wiser golfer, there is a sense of when to start bringing down your swing. It’s just a way of telling yourself you’ve accumulated a good golf swing technique.

While it may sound a little confusing, it’s not. All it means is that you need to focus a little more on your hands when having the ultimate golf swing. You will notice the pressure that builds up into your arm and shoulder acknowledging the upper arm leverage. It’s kind of like a thermometer as it works its way to your fever rate.

The idea is to have your downswing run in a fluent motion with your golf backswing. One should work right into the other as you repeat the process in a reverse motion as you come back to the ball. What it comes down to is the unity between the two that offers a durable swing over and over again.

In order to get the most power out of your new golf swing, it doesn’t include swinging harder. Time and time again you’ll find golfers swinging for the fences in their downswing and coming up short. This is because you need to slow down the action and allow the club and hands to generate the power for you. So the next time you work on this, just remember to sense the pressure and release it as you’re coming down.

You have to understand the importance of the downswing. If you can get a handle on it you’ll be able to slow down the drive of the hands and bring them and your inner arm across the body. While this is crucial, it’s also important to learn how to properly shift your weight in the lower part of the body. Then of course you need to remember keep the shaft behind the hands.

The end result means more power in your hand when you hit the top of your backswing. Most importantly you can free up the hands a bit to allow them to work a little more freely. If you can do this you’ll have a club face that’s square and more power to drive through the ball.

When you get to this point you will notice the club head ends up in an eight o’ clock position. Granted, it will probably take some practice for you to reach this point, but when you do the result is always a positive one.

However, I would consider this one of the most difficult positions in your golf swing. I see pupils have problems with it all the time, which you will have to work a little harder to perfect. The good news is you can master this technique like many of the pros and drastically improve your golf scores. It’s all about constant accuracy with any club and keeping the same hitting line.

One of the best ways to look at it is by watching a mediocre golfer. Sure they may hit hard, but their accuracy is all over the place. Why? A lot of it has to do with hand control and timing that never forms a repetitive nature. When this happens you will see the club head winding up in different locations as it comes through the ball.

The best way to work on this is by using at least three balls and hitting them with the same club. Granted, it all depends on the ground and which way the balls bounce, but take a look at the landing areas. If they’re all over the place then you’re having problems.

Just remember, you can fix this with a little work. The goal is to give you enough hand room to set the club head in the appropriate position. If you can’t reach this pinnacle, then it’s important to find the appropriate help.

Okay, now that we’ve gone over how to shape your delivery, it’s time to start working on it. Just remember that getting your hands to hit that eight o’clock position is extremely important. The end result will allow more accuracy and power to go into the ball.

You just have to want to get the right golf swing technique for your golf short game. Do this and you’ll improve it dramatically.

This topic is dear to my heart and I have had many a discussion with Amateur members at my golf club regarding the type of golf ball they are using. The answer is usually the same. They use different golf balls from day to day, sometimes using different types and makes in the course of a single round. Just bear with me for a moment while I explain how this can affect your scores and handicap in a big way.

Allow me to explain further and imagine if you will – David has just hit his tee shot out of bounds on the 5th using a Top Flite XL, he reaches into his bag and pulls out another golf ball this time it’s a Titleist ProV1 which he plays to the front of the green, at this point David is lying about twenty yards from the cup, he then uses his 8 iron to chip on to the green, it comes up about 4 yards short. He thought he had hit a perfect chip as his judgement is usually pretty good from that range; he shaves the hole with his putt, taps in then carries on with his round of golf none the wiser

Ok let’s back up a bit here and analyse that scenario. I am sure by now a few of you have guessed the problem, its common enough and happens thousands of times a day on golf links around the world.

When David switched his ball to a ProV1 he created the problem with his next shot from the edge of the green. The top Flite XL would have jumped off the face of the club with his chip and probably have gone close to the hole saving him a shot, but because he changed to the softer ProV1 (which you need to hit firmer) his chip ended up 4 yards from the hole with the subsequent missed putt costing him a valuable stroke.

Different types of golf balls react differently for a variety of full shots as well, not to mention putting which makes distance control very difficult if you chop and change your golf balls all the time. Feel is a very important factor in golf and should not be overlooked.

The truth of the matter is you should use the same type and make of golf ball all the time. That doesnt mean you shouldn’t try different Golf balls but you should become familiar with a Golf ball and not chop and change too often. Especially during the course of a round. Get used to the ball you use so you can be more consistent. You may not believe this is something you should consider but i assure you this is a very, very, very important part of being consistent in your golf and lowering you scores. This is also one thing that every golfer can do.

Next time your out on the course check the golf balls you are carrying and make sure the ones you take out onto the course with you are all the same type and make.

This is one thing you can all do, no excuses, enjoy your game.

The routine of properly preparing towards the golf ball will improve your golf swing. You ought to be able to strike the golf ball to where you desire it to go. In discovering the game of golf it is vital for golf newcomers to give attention to their aim when they prepare to address the golf ball.

A poor aim can cause your golf swing to go to pieces. Improving your golf swing takes a lot of application. Improve your golf swing on the practice tee. As part of your training exercise, put two clubs on the practice tee. The first club located parallel to the way you are going to position yourself and the latter club situated at a right angle to it. To make sure that you improve your golf swing you have to set up square to the golf ball. The parallel club will guarantee this set up is done correctly and the club at right angles will identify the ball position.

The line-up of your body extends to the left of the target. When you gaze over your shoulder you will be looking at the left of the objective. Observing the target area in your line of sight when gazing over your shoulder means that your aim is to the right of the intended target area. Your golf club head is also aiming in that direction.

The right lining up of your golf swing means that your body and especially your feet, knees and shoulders should be aligned to the route your stroke is going to assume. It can be compared to hitting the golf ball on a railway track. Lines drawn through the knees, feet, hips and shoulder ought to be parallel to the left hand side track and the golf ball to be placed on the right hand side towards the objective.

If you are in the process of learning about the game it may definitely feel abnormal for you to line up to the golf ball in this way. Being capable of judging the designated line without actually having your eyes over the path the ball is going to take as well as positioning yourself sideways to it, turns into a vital skill for any aspiring golfer. Misalignment will finally contribute to misdirection of the proposed stroke.

One of the ways to remove errors in alignment is to place yourself straight behind the ball-target line and choose a position on the ground a few centimeters in front of where you placed the golf ball. Concentrate on the selected spot rather than your planned target in the distance. The mark could be anything from a leaf to perhaps a piece of branch. After selecting your aiming spot, take up your set up position by placing your feet and shoulders parallel to the imaginary line on the ground.

A few players like to keep the aiming spot in mind throughout the whole golf swing. Some players turn their attention on the aiming spot, but also like to then check their target area a few times before they start their golf swing. This may possibly lead to a player feeling misaligned and wrongly shifting his position to one that feels more suitable, but that is clearly an incorrect position. Forget the alternative of looking up at the target area. Find your spot, set-up and execute by making use the imaginary line. By following all the above tips you are sure to improve your golf swing.

Golf Ball Striking Tips – Amend the Golf Swing

While dealing the ball, most of the players bow ahead about 36 degrees. The fair golfer will normally set up with either too many or too brief forward bending making them to lift the superior body at the top of the golf shot and at impact. This nearly always ends in discrepant shot making and turgid golf scores. Here are some golf ball striking tips to hold those scores down.

Proper Shoulder Tilt: Important golf ball Striking Tips

Proper shoulder tilt is the important golf ball striking tip which plays a vital role in golf ball striking and the whole golf shot. Its large affect is on heavy shift at the time of shot. The fair golfer will arrange with even shoulders and no shoulder inclination. This will make them to incline towards the aim with their shoulders.
Most skilled golfers will incline their shoulders little to the right when dealing the ball. This will help to locating their body backside the ball at the correct spot for an efficient weight shift during the shot and for this it is also important to know golf ball position tips. Pay care to the shoulder from the top of the shot, to ball impact. One wants the backbone to move further to the right on the downturn. Making sure the shoulders are inclined the right way is one of the most important golf ball striking tips one can learn.

Increase Side Bend

While one is in the center of the shot at the golf club is at the top, one will want to try and raise the side inclination. In order to rise the side incline, one need to incline the upper body little to the right by 10 degrees or greater. It assists them to feel like they are moving the top of the spine away from the aim than the bottom in the center of the back swing.
As one begins to bring the golf club down to hit the ball then one need to tardily move the top of the spine further away from the aim. Try and incline the backbone about 20 degrees. This will locate the right shoulder just below the left shoulder as one swing the golf club to shot the ball. This will assist to assure that the club is on the correct path by the downswing, and assist to maximize club head fastness. Do the last two golf ball striking tips, and the golf game will actually profit.
