I have been giving golf lessons for the past fifteen years, and because of this I have been trying out training aids to help make my lessons for effective. I have tried the Swing Setter, the Swing Groover, the Gyro Swing and many other different types of aids that have had mixed results. Some have been more than worth the money, others have made it into the dumpster before even taking a swing with it.

Today I would like to tell you about my experiences with the Matzie ASSIST swing trainer. I have used this product for over a month now at The Villages of Terra Vista at Citrus Hills and the results have been positive. Matzie has brought a very capable product to the market and hopefully I will help you make the decision to try this new training aid.

The ASSIST instantaneously helped my students and I with Tempo. It is astonishing that even after 20 years of playing the great game of golf that you can get rusty when you don’t practice the basic fundamentals of your golf swing. Because of the ASSIST’s heavy weight, it helps you remember to pause at the top of your golf swing. It reminds you to extend through the ball, and to finish with your hands held high, not yanked across the body, which usually results in either a pull-hook or a heeled slice. I had five of my students take the ASSIST home and spend fifteen to thirty minutes a day with it after each golf lesson and they are all hitting the ball much better. Each one of the five students practicing with the ASSIST is now hitting the ball straighter, longer, and more accurately because of the ASSIST.

After doing some research, I have found that the ASSIST is virtually indestructible. There are no hinges or weak points to crack or fail on this golf swing trainer. You would have to purposely try to break this product by beating it repeatedly against a rock or perhaps running it over with a crane would work.

In the beginning I thought the molded grip was a bit “too much,” i.e. the right hand was placed to some extent too much under the golf club shaft, but my own knowledge convinced me that my own grip was “weak” and would advantage from an adjustment. This proved to be true. If a purchaser does not like the grip, perhaps a pro should be consulted. In any case, if the purchaser does not want to get in to changing his or her grip, it is easy enough to have a regular golf grip put on!

Over all I would highly suggest this product to any golfer looking to purchase a golf swing training aid looking to improve their golf game. It is a fantastic product and has the ability to help cure even the most horrible swing habits.

Most golfers will say the hardest part of their game is focus. The mental side of golf is one spoken of but often overlooked. You know your friend the one who golfs well every time he goes out? Why is that? Practice, they practice. What they usually do not share is, what they are practicing at. They practice at mental toughness; golf has often been referred to as 10% Talent 90% mental. When overcoming that mental side of golf, do you try to change your equipment, the time at which you play, maybe even they guys you play with. Here are some tips that are going to help you be, the golfer, you always wanted to be.

The tempo of golf is often a distraction for golfers, you are stuck behind a slow foursome DISTRACTING or maybe the guys behind you are rushing you DISTRACTING and you feel that pressure to golf faster. The tempo of the course should never affect the tempo of your swing. The tempo of your swing is so important; to achieve the desired results. How do I find MY tempo you ask? A golfer can find their tempo by doing these simple things:

SLOW DOWN!! I repeat slow down, everyone thinks the speed at which you swing dictates how far and accurate your ball will move. This is true is some instances, but, for the sake of this article we will not be discussing those concepts. The tempo we are going to discuss today, is going to deal with how you approach every single shot in your game, you need to have the same back swing, contact, and follow through on every swing. How are you going to practice this TEMPO? Go to the driving range and practice with one club at a time. Take your driver and hit 20 balls, then take your 9 iron and hit 20 balls work your way in 3W-8I and on until you have hit them all. To perfect your back swing come to the same position every time. When you hit the ball you should be contacting at the same speed every time. Some people have the misconception that you should swing harder and faster with big clubs and slower and softer with smaller clubs. You really want to be swinging all of your clubs at the same speed, you will see great improvement on how well you make contact with the ball. When you are working on your follow through it will be the same as your back swing, you will want it to be the same with every club. Your follow through will affect your accuracy a 100% of the time. When you focus on these three techniques you will find that your mental game will improve.

After the practice on the driving range is done you will want to head to the chipping green. You will want to work with your Wedge, 60deg, 8I, and 9I. Practice 100 chips with each club. When you start in the deep stuff focus on yout tempo and making sure you land every ball on the green. When chipping just focus on your tempo, using the same stroke every time. Remember chipping should be another tool in your arsenal and not the final result. Many careers have been made from singles and doubles hitters it is not just the home run hitters that decide how games turnout. The idea is to get on the green and let your putter do the work. The 8i and 9i will be used to work out the tempo of the bump and run technique. Tempo here is the key still but keep in mind that now you have too much club for such a short distance. Your tempo is what matters!! Imagine you are still hitting that same wedge, Change the Club not the Tempo!!

Putting Putting Putting! This is so hard to understand but why? Now we have gone from the Driving range to the chipping green to the putting green. What you want to practice here is the same thing! You want to work on your tempo. You putt the same every time, you will not be changing your swing ever. The only thing about putting that changes is the distance. Start by sinking 10 putts in a row from 1ft away after you have done this, move out to 2ft, repeat until you sink 10 in a row from 10ft away. Stay focused on your tempo.

The goal for these exercises is to teach your to go through the same steps every time. When you are working on you tempo you need to understand that you are separating your self from the game; you are working on you. When you take the time to build on your tempo you will see results!! The game is 90% mental; set a clock in your mind that only allows for the same tempo no matter when or where you are golfing. When your body starts to do the same thing every single time, your mind will become more focused on the task at hand.

For most people, taking golf lessons means going to a professional who can share their skill and experience; but did you know that you can also take golf lessons online? It is still a good idea to take some lessons from a pro if you are just getting started and you can learn much from an expert player, but you probably will not remember everything you learn in a few lessons. It is great to practice with a pro, but supplementing these with golf lessons online makes a wonderful addition which can help you remember what you have learned.

Having these web based resources can be a great help for those trying to learn or perfect their game. Those little things you forget can end up sabotaging an otherwise perfect swing. When you take Online Golf Lessons in addition to your sessions with a pro, you’re able to review things and remember everything you need to know.

Video Lessons

Almost everyone now has either a digital camera which can record and play video; at the least, your mobile phone most likely has these capabilities. If you are taking golf lessons online, being able to record yourself while you practice and watch your golf lessons online right there on the course or driving range.

You can watch the videos at home any time you need and keep your memory fresh; it also makes it easier to ensure that you maintain proper form while you practice your swing at home.

Audio Lessons

Golf is a game which requires focus and a certain kind of mindset; you won’t become an expert immediately, but when you take golf lessons online, the downloadable audio lessons most of them provide lets you learn in your car or anywhere else by listening to them on your portable mp3 player. This can help you to get into the right frame of mind more quickly.

E-Books

When you choose to take golf lessons online, you will also be able to use e-books that you can download and read on your computer as well as online resources which you can use from any computer. A lot of people prefer e-books on golfing; for many, this seems to be the best way for them to learn the basics.

Becoming a truly skilled golfer will take a lot of time and a lot of practice; but when you take golf lessons online, you will get the edge you need to get you there much more quickly.

Golf fitness coach. Have you still considered one…and if so, what methodically were you looking for? There are many ‘frequent fitness’ trainers trying to purchase a piece of the golf fitness and training market that seems to be rapidly gaining exposure both on the television and inside print thanks to Tiger, Vijay and Annika.

But the first thing you require to consider when looking into hiring a golf fitness coach or program is the trainers experience in golf.

Yes…that is high on the list of requirements. Does he/she know golf? Do they know the biomechanics of the golf swing? How about muscle function during the golf swing?

An simple test is during the initial interview or if you’re researching it online is to either ask very golf specific swing technique questions; or take a look at the truth on the website. You’ll discover out real quick if this person or program be able to assist your golf swing, game and health.

A golf fitness coach or program must incorporate power, flexibility, endurance, body awareness, balance, stability and even a nutrition component.

It’s easy for a trainer to have a power component…but is it specific to golf? A quick test. Take a look at some of the exercises. Are several of them on seated machines for instance? If they are…run! This is NOT a golf fitness coach and/or program. This is considered ‘familiar fitness’.

At this moment stretching. There are dozens of stretches for each public. But take a look at several of them. Do they even remotely look like they will gain your golf swing?

Stretches involving trunk flexibility; lower back; hamstring; and even shoulders specific to the mechanics of the swing are what you choose. General stretches are greater than nothing, but will delay your results. You want specific stretches.

Body awareness. Does a few of the exercises resemble golf positions or phases of the swing? Do they look like you would be on your feet and inside your golf posture? Since stated above, if they are seated on machines, your body will learn nothing inside regards to your golf swing.

Training your body specific to golf incorporates positions almost identical to what your body would be inside during any section of the golf swing.

Stability. Training your body to enhance stability inside your swing can get a little complex if you essentially want to see results. The swing happens at between 80-100 miles an hour. One of the biggest flaws of amateur golfers is moving in their golf swing.

Moving either laterally (sliding), vertically (up and done) or both. This is death to your golf swing. To improve your stability involves specific power drills most trainers don’t even know about.

I possibly will go on-and-on about the requirements of a golf fitness coach or program. It is critical you make the right choice. I have heard horror stories of golfers working with ‘so-called’ golf fitness experts and their game getting worse. With the proper research this won’t happen to you. So definitely consider a golf fitness coach.

Exercise for a golfer is widely used. Despite the success many professionals have enjoyed, and continue to enjoy in their game, mainly because of golf-specific exercises, many amateur golfers still shun any golf specific exercises.

Even when it is rather obvious that leading names in the game like the legendary Tiger Woods heavily rely on staying in good shape for the game by having personal trainers and by being involved in golf specific exercises.

By far the golfers belief that they will develop muscles, it’s the main reason why most still fear and avoid exercise. Actually lifting weights are a very effective way of toning the golf-specific muscles for the game, by strengthening them. Strength training uses weights will never increase the size of your muscles.

Nobody would loathe building big muscles more than most lady golfers. By increasing their strength through golf-specific weight training, yet many of them have dramatically improved their games.

Actually you need to be in the gym several hours a day lifting very heavy weights to develop a weight-lifters’ muscles. The weight-lifting exercise regime for golf involves lifting lighter weights many more times over a very short period of time compared to a weightlifter looking for muscles with heavier weights lifted fewer times at a time but for longer hours daily.

The fact that many lady golfers have been able to dramatically improve their game by getting involved in exercises for a golfers, but have not build heavy stiff muscles, should be encouragement enough for many amateurs to seriously consider exercise for a golfer programs.

Apart from weights, most of the exercises for a golfer involve stretch exercises designed to improve a golf swing. Some of these stretch exercises for a golfer can easily be done form the comfort of an offices or home when you have a moment to spare.

Golf weight training program. In a sport that hardly has any controversies; few issues have come as close to being controversial as golf weight training programs have. More so with amateur and non-professional golfer.

And yet if you really examine the facts, a golf weight training program need not be controversial at all.

Amongst the other golfers golf weight training programs are still looked on with a lot of fear and apprehension, although professionals have now fully embraced the benefit of golf weight training programs . These fears are of course mainly based on ignorance rather than enough solid facts and knowledge.

One of the greatest fears is that some of the golf weight training programs designed to build strength are too strenuous. Others fear that they will develop great big muscles that will make them stiff and yet flexibility is an important attribute for any golfer.

These fears are of course completely unjustified. Most golf weight training programs has been successfully completed by golfers who are as old as 80 years old. The junior golfers barely in their teens have also graduated from the same programs without any problem. Not to mention ladies golfers several of who are senior citizens.

Then it is significant to note that golf weight training programs are designed to increase strength and not to body build or build great huge muscles. Use of dumbbells are different for the two different objectives. For example lighter weights is used and they are lifted more times than the case would be for a bodybuilder dealing in much heavier weight.

Many good golf will also include certain stretch exercises using them on their weight training programs involving dumbbells . Stretch exercises are very good in improving golf swings.

When you take a closer look, golf weight training programs are really not be feared. Rather they should be embraced as they have helped many golfers revolutionize their game.

There is no doubt that the importance of a golf weight training program will continue to rise in the years to come.

The aim of this article is to provide golfers with the neccessary assistance and to enable them to get off to the best possible start and to ultimately get the best imaginable benefits from golf coaching sessions. When you read through this entire article you will be better placed to take full advantage of the expert tution that you receive.

Your love of golf is coursing through your blood, am I right? You would really like to become a better golfer, correct? Do you feel that you are not progressing as well as you think you should be? Then why not seek assistance with some expert golf tuition?

Hiring the services of a golf coach for some very important golf lessons may well be one of the best decisions you can make and prove to be so very beneficial.

My own view on this is that golf lessons in some shape or form are vital so that your skill levels are nurtured and improved that much more quickly than if you were merely left to your own devices.

Having said that, it is fair to say that utilising the services of a golf professional for golf coaching sessions can be quite expensive. Needless to say, if money is not an obstacle then by all means have the coaching sessions. But if you are operating on a tight budget then why not search the internet for some of the various golf sites that offer free tips and advice. One such site that should be of interest to you is the Golf Beginners Guide. You can access it here.

Assuming you go the way of hiring a golf professional for your golf lessons then it is well worth considering these points of view.

It is generally recognised that it is never easy asking for help, but in golf, it is almost a necessity. Unfortunately, we often ask ourbuddies and partners, when in truth we should take a lesson or two.

You might feel that a golf trainer is overly and unjustifiably critrical but in actual fact they are meaning to be open, informative and above all helpful.

Lessons at the local course aren’t as expensive as you might think and they are well worth it because your game will improve rapidly and cause you less frustration, making the game much more enjoyable for you. And as we should all bear in mind, that should be our fundamental intention – to delight in the game of golf that we all love.

Of significant importance, it will be necessary for you to be honest about your game. The golf professional will ask you what you want to start with; your swing, driving, chipping, putting or whatever you
feel you need assistance with.

It goes without saying that you should listen carefully and follow any instructions you are given. Initially you may have some doubts if your golf coach decides that areas of your game need changes – for example your swing, or your grip or your stance. Don’t lose patience though – stick with it as your golf coach will be in a position to know best.

As you will be paying good money for the tuition you receive do not hesitate to ask questions. Don’t worry if the question or problem you have may appear stupid – they have heard it all before and they will not make you feel awkward for asking the question. If at first you do not understand the instructions given then let your trainer know. You should never walk away from a lesson with unanswered questions.

You may well find that you are able to concentrate on just the one thing during a coaching session, or several. You could begin with a driving lesson; or you could get tuition for the right grip, the right stance, the right swing, the right follow-through in one lesson, but then you will need to practice it (always be reminded that practice makes perfect!!).

As your game comes along and you feel that you have controlled the areas of your game thus far addressed, the following training sessions may have you working at your short game, or your putting.

Golf can be a very expensive game to play and it it is a fair chance that you yourself have invested a lot of money in your equipment – golf clubs, golf bag, golf balls, golf cart etc; – so doesn’t it make sense for you to learn how to use them to their advantage and improve your abilities?

Hopefully, now that you have read this article, you will now see the virtues of taking golf lessons. All information and tips given will be of little use if you do not take the necessary action. So don’t merely read this article and agree with what has been written, put the theory into practice and book your first training sessions. As remarked on earlier, even if this means surfing the internet and looking for the golf websites that offer free tips and advice.

It goes without saying that having the lessons is not the be all and end all. Put into practice and keep practicing the disciplines of training that you have been furnished with and your game will invariably improve. Resulting from this will be that you will enjoy your golf so muchmore. Enjoy your golf everyone!!

One of the questions that I think a lot of people would like to know is, “how long will it take to fix my swing .In the next sections, I show you some different approaches you can take. After going through them, it’s going to be up to you to decide which approach is the best for you.

Swing Fix 1 – Purchase New Equipment

At one time or another, most golfers have thought the buying new clubs was going to instantly change their game. Now, I don’t want to totally discount this fix because buying new clubs can improve your golf game if you’re playing the wrong clubs, or your clubs are not properly fitted to you and your swing. What you should do, is find an experienced clubfitter and have your clubs fitted and your swing checked.

Buying new clubs gives you a quick fix in another way. Newer clubs feel different from your old clubs. This means that when you hit shots with them, you’re thinking so much about how the new club feels that you aren’t thinking of how you’re swinging. This totally clears your mind but it’s only temporary.Using your new clubs for a couple of weeks and they won’t feel all that different so you go right back to thinking about your swing. My advice here is to quit trying new clubs.

As I said above, find a clubfitter and have your clubs professionally fitted. Then, stay focused on working on your swing.

Swing Fix 2 – Trying Different Swing Tips

We’ve all picked up the latest golf magazine and tried the latest golf tips hoping they will magically get our game back on track. The problem is, most people don’t know their swing well enough to determine if, in fact, these tips would apply to their swing. If you feel that you are not experienced enough, and you keep trying these tips, you make do more harm than good. Plus, a tip is just a tip. It’s not necessarily going to improve your fundamentals.

An example of a tip would be to move your hands into a stronger grip positon.A tip like this may help you square the club a little better but it’s is not helping your develop a proper grip. You should be very careful the next time you go to work on the latest tip you find in a magazine, or from your buddy. A good idea would be to discuss the tip with your head pro or teaching pro first to see if it would be a good fit for your game. You should try it only after this consultation. It it works, that’s fantastic!

Swing Fix 3 – No Focus

So many people are looking for the instant answer that they fall into the trap of trying way too many things all at once. This approach is like throwing mud against the wall hoping it will stick.Unfortunately, this will be too confusing. Plus, you may have tried so many things that you can’t remember what worked and what didn’t.Even if you had some success, it may have just been luck. The true test for this apporach is your game improving long into the future.

Swing Fix 4 – Working on One Thing at a Time

The best way you should work on fixing your swing is to take it one step at a time. In doing so, you stay focused only on that thing which means you aren’t going to experiment and try 5 different things at once.To work on your swing this way, you will need to study a swing method or take lessons from a qualified pro.By working on your swing this way, you solidify the changes because you are only focused on one thing at a time.I know, most golfers think this is going to take a long time.If you compare this way to the other fixes I descreibed, you’ll make progress faster this way.

The reason is, the other ways I described only present a short term fix whereas, isolating one part of your swing develops the right fundamentals that will stay with your long into the future.
